A poster contribution from DecarbonDHS was presented by dr Leteng Lin from Linneaus University at the 33rd European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE 2025), held in Valencia, Spain, from 9–13 June 2025 (Fig. 1).
The presentation, titled „Feasibility Assessment of Biochar Co-Production from Existing Biomass-Fired Moving Grate Boiler System,” provides a techno-economic and environmental evaluation based on operational data from a Swedish district heating plant. The study examines the integration of slow pyrolysis into existing biomass-based heating systems, focusing on aspects such as CO₂ sequestration potential, payback time, and market prospects for biochar and bio-oil.
The event brought together international researchers, engineers, and policymakers working in the bioenergy sector.
A full paper detailing the study will be included in the upcoming conference proceedings.
