On 4 September 2025, the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN) hosted a workshop within the DecarbonDHS project, focusing on pathways to decarbonize district heating networks (Fig. 1).
The event brought together industry experts, researchers, heat and energy supply companies, and local administrators — including representatives from PUW Pomorski Urząd Wojewódzki w Gdańsku, Grupa GPEC, OPEC Heat Distribution Company, and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. Participants discussed case studies and the specific challenges of decarbonizing district heating in the Trójmiasto region (Fig. 2).

Such initiatives underline the critical role of cooperation and innovation in advancing the energy transition, paving the way toward sustainable and resilient heating systems for the future.
