
On June 27, 2025, the conference “Innovation Center of Green Municipalities: How Will Lithuania’s Municipalities Develop Innovations?” was held at the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania. The event was organized by the National Network of Green Municipalities, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the future of sustainable innovation at the municipal level.
The Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), a long-standing supporter of Green Municipality initiatives, was represented by Rimantas Bakas, who delivered a presentation on LEI’s international projects. His talk highlighted how initiatives such as the DecarbonDHS project contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable innovations within Lithuanian municipalities (Fig. 1, 2)

The conference served as a valuable platform for aligning national policy efforts with local innovation and international research.
The conference brought together 22 participants, including Member of Parliament Andrius Bagdonas, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Environment, the Lithuanian Energy Agency, the Research Council of Lithuania, various municipalities, and research institutions.
