Lithuanian Partners Advance DecarbonDHS Project with Working Meeting in Kretinga

On September 10, 2025, Lithuanian partners of the DecarbonDHS project gathered at Kretinga District Heating Company for a productive working meeting (Fig. 1). The discussions focused on ongoing project activities and preparations for the upcoming November seminar – a round table for small district heating companies. This event will highlight implemented technological solutions and serve as a platform for exchanging experiences and lessons learned.

The Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) presented the first results of modeling Kretinga’s district heating network. Future work will expand on this with scenario analyses, including both economic and environmental assessments.

During the visit, LEI representatives also toured Kretinga’s second boiler house (Fig. 2), which supplies the town with heat and hot water, and inspected the existing equipment.

This meeting marked another important step toward the project’s mission: advancing the decarbonisation of district heating systems through knowledge exchange, innovative modeling, and practical solutions.
