The seminar “Prospects for Lithuania’s smaller municipalities in decarbonizing heat supply systems” dedicated to decarbonization process in smaller district heating companies of district municipalities took place in Lithuanian Energy Institute on September 16, 2026 under DecarbonDHS project, South Baltic Interreg.
93 participants have participated at the seminar, among which the majority of Lithuanian DH companies have gathered to listen to very informative and variable presentations made by energy sector authorities and energy experts working in the field of decarbonization technologies.
The seminar started with brief presentation of the project made by the head of Lithuanian team dr. Rimantas Bakas.
Agnė Bagočiūtė, the director of the Lithuanian Energy Agency has provided information on the priorities of transformation of Lithuanian energy sector.
Matas Taparauskas, deputy chair of the National Energy regulatory Council presented changes in pricing and regulation issues of Lithuanian Heat sector, which could be helpful in implementation of sector decarbonization measures.
The overview of the most modern technological solutions, and steps to possible implementation for heat supply company was made by Valdas Lukoševičius, the president of Lithuanian District Heating Association.
Efficient use of heat pumps in public and multiapartment buildings based on practical knowledge and long experience was presented by Rokas Valančius from JSC Elmitra.
Tadas Lukoševičius from CT Industry Oy presented Power-2-Heat technological solutions, availability on the existing market.
Valdas Garmus from UAB Termolink provided information on combined heat and power and ORC solutions available and technical preconditions for successful implementation in DH companies.
Ramunė Gurklienė from Lithuanian District Heating Association has presented digitalization solutions for more efficient operation of DH systems under Baltic EnerShift project BES – Baltic EnerShift. She has also provided important information on future support schemes from EU funds and Lithuanian government for DH projects.
Assist. Prof. Egidijus Puida from Kaunas University of Technology has made presentation on heat storages and accumulation.
Presentations were followed by discussions session where the important answers to asked questions were provided.
