On May 14, 20206 Representatives of IMP PAN visited the Municipal District Heating Company in Olsztyn (MPEC Olsztyn) to gain insight into the operation of the local district heating infrastructure and discuss the system’s operational processes. The visit provided an opportunity to better understand the challenges related to the management and control of district heating networks, including issues connected with energy efficiency and heat storage operation (Fig. 1).
Direct discussions with practitioners only highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange and cooperation between research institutions and system operators (Fig. 2)
During the meeting, representatives of IMPPAN introduced not only the DecarbonDHS project, but also the BES – Baltic EnerShift project, as well as DeCrises Projects, creating space for the exchange of approaches, experiences, and perspectives related to the #energytransition.

We would like to sincerely thank the MPEC team for their openness, valuable insights, and the opportunity to observe the installations first-hand. The meeting concluded with a joint summary and the identification of areas for cooperation, which will be developed in the subsequent stages.
