On 16 April 2026, IWEN Energy Institute gGmbH, a partner in the DecarbonDHS project, participated in the Baltic Sea Business Day 2026 in Rostock, Germany. As part of a joint Interreg project exhibition stand (Fig. 1), IWEN presented DecarbonDHS alongside ‘BES – Baltic EnerShift project’, ‘BalticSeaH2’ and ‘Baltic Grow’ projects, highlighting the role of cross-border collaboration in addressing shared challenges across the Baltic Sea Region.
Baltic Sea Business Day is one of the region’s key networking events, bringing together businesses, researchers, start-ups, policymakers and public institutions to foster innovation, strengthen international partnerships and promote sustainable economic development. The 2026 edition focused on topics such as climate-neutral business, renewable energy, innovation and regional cooperation, providing an excellent platform for exchanging ideas and establishing new partnerships.
Alongside the exhibition, Jonathan Aschenbrenner (IWEN Energy Institute gGmbH) delivered a pitch in the Startup & Company Area, presenting IWEN’s international project activities and demonstrating how collaborative initiatives contribute to sustainable development and innovation in the Baltic Sea Region.
A particular highlight was the visit to the IWEN stand by state politicians including Christian Pegel, Minister for the Interior and Construction, Dr Wolfgang Blank, Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour, and Patrick Dahlemann, Head of the State Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, underlining the importance of international cooperation for the region’s future.
By participating in Baltic Sea Business Day 2026, IWEN increased the visibility of the DecarbonDHS project, engaged with stakeholders from across the Baltic Sea Region, and explored opportunities for future cooperation supporting the transition towards sustainable and low-carbon energy systems.
